A workflow asks for PNG but your source is JPG. A real conversion creates PNG image data, so the destination can read the expected format. It does not restore details already lost in JPEG or remove a solid background.
Create a PNG copy of a JPEG
The preset accepts JPG/JPEG input identified by the browser as image/jpeg. It supports up to five files, each within 15 MiB and 40 megapixels.
Choose your JPEG files or try the sample.
Process them with the fixed PNG output. A lossy quality slider does not control PNG encoding.
Download each PNG and compare its dimensions, size and appearance with the source.
PNG does not recover JPEG detail
PNG losslessly encodes the pixels it receives from decoding the JPEG. It cannot recover edges, textures or color detail already removed by the original JPEG encoding. Keep the best source image available.
Changing .jpg to .png in a filename does not perform conversion. Use the exported file so the actual image encoding matches the format the destination expects.
Why the background stays visible
Although PNG supports transparency, a JPEG source does not contain an alpha channel. This converter retains the source pixels, including its background. It does not detect a subject or cut anything out.
If the goal is a transparent logo, obtain the original transparent artwork or use a dedicated background-removal workflow. Merely switching file formats will not create the missing transparency.
Expect the file size to change
PNG can be much larger for a photograph. The preset preserves pixel dimensions and reports the actual output size; it does not promise compression. Check any upload byte limit before sharing the copy.
Newly encoded results omit source metadata. Keep the original JPEG for other uses, and use Resize image separately if the destination also asks for fewer pixels.
Frequently asked questions
Does JPG to PNG improve quality?+
It does not restore detail lost in the JPEG. It changes the image encoding to meet a format requirement.
Will the PNG have a transparent background?+
No. A solid background in the JPEG remains part of the image. Conversion does not remove it.
Can the PNG be bigger than the JPG?+
Yes. Lossless PNG can use many more bytes for photographs. Compare the measured result.

Try the sample first, then process your images. Compare the result and keep the original for future editing.
