How to convert WebP to JPG

Turn a WebP image into a JPG copy in your browser. Follow the steps and understand white backgrounds, quality, file size and static-image limits.

WebPJPG

A form or app asks for JPG but the image you saved is WebP. Convert the image data to JPEG and keep the WebP source. If the original contains transparency or animation, a JPG copy cannot retain those features.

Make a JPG copy of a WebP

Use a readable source file; renaming .webp to .jpg does not change the encoding. The preset handles the actual conversion.

  1. Select up to five WebP images within 15 MiB and 40 megapixels per file.

  2. Adjust the JPEG quality and process the images.

  3. Download each JPG, open it and test it with the intended upload or recipient.

What happens to transparent areas?

JPEG cannot store alpha transparency. PixMinto draws a white background before exporting the JPG, so a transparent logo becomes a rectangular image with white areas.

If you need to retain transparency, use PNG or WebP instead and confirm that the destination accepts it. This tool does not let you choose a different JPG background color.

A JPG is a still image

WebP can contain animation. PixMinto’s canvas conversion creates a single still-image export and is not an animation conversion workflow. It does not promise frame selection or preserve all frames.

Keep the animated source if the motion is important. A downloaded JPG should be treated as a separate still copy.

Check detail and size after conversion

JPEG re-encoding can change fine edges and text. Inspect the exported copy at its intended use size and choose quality accordingly. A JPG can be bigger than the WebP source.

If an upload rejects the result, check the required pixel dimensions and byte limit as well as the extension. Use resize for dimensions or the 100 KB preset when that is the actual size requirement.

Frequently asked questions

Can I rename WebP to JPG instead?+

No. You need a conversion that writes JPEG image data. Changing the filename alone leaves the WebP encoding intact.

Why is the background white?+

The WebP had transparent pixels, but JPG has no alpha channel. PixMinto fills those areas with white.

Does WebP to JPG keep animation?+

No. The output is one still JPG. Keep the original WebP for animation.
