A downloaded photograph or scan is facing the wrong direction. Rotate its pixels and export a separate image rather than relying only on a viewer to display it differently. PixMinto provides fixed right-angle rotations and a live preview.
Correct a sideways or upside-down image
Use one image at a time, within the 15 MiB and 40-megapixel input limits. The initial rotation is 90 degrees clockwise.
Choose the source or try the sample.
Select a clockwise angle. Use 180 degrees for an upside-down image, or 270 degrees for a quarter-turn counterclockwise.
Check the preview, choose a format and process. Download the corrected image and open it to verify the orientation.
What happens to width and height?
A 90- or 270-degree turn swaps the pixel dimensions. For example, a 1200 × 800 source becomes 800 × 1200. A 180-degree turn keeps 1200 × 800 dimensions while changing which side is at the top.
This tool does not straighten a horizon by a small arbitrary angle. It offers 0, 90, 180 and 270 degrees and does not add perspective correction. Choose the preview that matches the orientation you need.
Pixels, orientation metadata and export quality
Some source files contain orientation information that the browser already uses when decoding them. The preview shows the browser-decoded orientation; rotate from what you actually see rather than from a filename or an assumed camera position.
A new export writes a pixel image and does not copy the source EXIF or GPS. JPG and WebP can change detail during re-encoding; PNG is available when you want to avoid that lossy export step. The result can use more bytes than the original.
Keep a source copy and inspect the download
The selected source file is not overwritten. Save the corrected result separately, check that it opens the right way round, and use that copy for your upload or document.
The editor handles one still image at a time. Convert HEIC first, and keep animated or multi-image sources when you need their additional content. Rotation is separate from mirroring: use Flip image if the left and right sides need to swap.
Frequently asked questions
How do I rotate counterclockwise?+
Select 270 degrees clockwise to make the same turn as 90 degrees counterclockwise.
Can I rotate by 5 degrees?+
No. This tool offers fixed right-angle rotations, not arbitrary straightening.
Does rotating keep the file size unchanged?+
No. The result is re-encoded, so its bytes can change even when the pixel count stays the same.
Rotate an image
Try the sample first, then process your images. Compare the result and keep the original for future editing.
