About this tool: Resize image

Resize changes pixels, not a guaranteed number of kilobytes. Images already within the width limit stay unchanged unless you request another format.

How to resize an image without stretching it

  1. Choose up to five JPG / PNG / WebP images, each within 15 MiB and 40 megapixels.
  2. Set the maximum width. Height stays proportional and smaller sources are not enlarged.
  3. Process the image, compare the result dimensions and file size, then download a separate copy. Keep the original.

When to use this tool

Use maximum width when a website, document or message needs fewer pixels. A 1200 × 800 image at a maximum width of 800 becomes 800 × 533. Height is calculated from the source proportions; this tool does not stretch the image to an arbitrary width and height.

Check before downloading

Smaller sources are never enlarged. Fewer pixels do not guarantee fewer bytes, because output encoding also matters. Crop a different frame first when you need a square or another aspect ratio, then upload that cropped copy for resizing.

A few things you might wonder.

Why can a resized image have more bytes?

Pixel dimensions and encoding are separate. PNG output can be larger even with fewer pixels. Try Auto or lossy JPG/WebP when a smaller file is the priority.

Are my images uploaded?

No. Image processing happens in your browser. This version does not upload or store your files.

Is it really free?
