About this tool: Compress image

Compression changes encoded file size. For a smaller download, compare Auto with the original format and adjust quality. PNG is lossless and does not use the quality slider.

How to compress an image online

  1. Choose up to five JPG / PNG / WebP images, each within 15 MiB and 40 megapixels.
  2. Choose Auto or an output format. Adjust JPG/WebP quality; PNG export is lossless.
  3. Process the image, compare the result dimensions and file size, then download a separate copy. Keep the original.

When to use this tool

Use compression when an attachment or upload is too large in bytes but its pixel dimensions already suit the destination. Start with Auto, inspect fine detail and compare the measured file sizes. For a strict limit, choose a byte-cap preset instead of guessing a quality value.

Check before downloading

Auto and same-format compression keep an already smaller original. An explicit format change can increase size. PNG does not use lossy quality; choose an appropriate JPG or WebP copy when the destination accepts it.

A few things you might wonder.

Why did my image stay the same size?

Auto and same-format compression keep the original if every encoded candidate is larger. This avoids increasing an already optimized file.

Are my images uploaded?

No. Image processing happens in your browser. This version does not upload or store your files.

Is it really free?

Yes. These tools are free and do not require an account. Reserved ad spaces may support the site in the future.
