About this tool: Image compressor to 20 KB

Choose this tool when an upload requires a photo or signature no larger than 20,000 bytes. It tries JPEG quality first and reduces image dimensions if needed. This is a small byte budget: inspect letters, fine lines and facial details before submitting. The result is JPG.

How to compress an image to 20 KB

  1. Choose up to five JPG / PNG / WebP images, each within 15 MiB and 40 megapixels.
  2. 20 KB = 20,000 bytes. Automatic quality; dimensions may shrink. JPG output.
  3. Process the image, compare the result dimensions and file size, then download a separate copy. Keep the original.

When to use this tool

A wide signature with large empty margins can become unreadable if the whole canvas is shrunk. Crop unnecessary margins first, then compress the copy. If the form also requires a minimum width or height, compare the reported dimensions with those requirements; meeting 20 KB alone does not guarantee acceptance.

Check before downloading

The output is a JPG at or below 20,000 bytes. Check the exact byte count, pixel dimensions and legibility. Transparent areas become white. Original files remain on your device.

A few things you might wonder.

Will my image be exactly 20 KB?

No. The maximum is 20,000 bytes. A smaller JPG can be kept unchanged; no padding or minimum file size is enforced.

Can you keep the original dimensions at 20 KB?

Not always. Complex or large images may require fewer pixels. The result reports its dimensions so you can check them against the upload rules.

Is 20 KB suitable for every photo?

No. A strict cap can remove visible detail. Use a larger permitted limit when possible, and keep the original. PNG transparency becomes white in JPG output.
